That’s what a’mano is all about. Located in the heart of mountain brook village since 1998, a’mano is a lifestyle gallery that focuses on creating a welcoming and truly unique shopping experience. Everything in a’mano must fit one of the following criteria: it must be handmade, one-of-a-kind, or exhibit great design.

founder & owner

lynn ritchie

Lynn Ritchie is the founder and owner of a’mano. After years of talking and dreaming about opening a store while working at a local bank, her husband finally spoke up and said, “Quit talking about it and do it!” That was twenty-years, four children, and one battle with breast cancer ago. Like Lynn, a’mano has had some changes over the years. But, for both Lynn and a’mano, their evolution has been a beautiful transformation. The challenge of nothing remaining the same, always growing and becoming better, is what motivates Lynn most. The goal for Lynn and a’mano has always been and always will be to bring artful items into people’s homes.

Lynn is a Nashville native, but has proudly called Birmingham home since marrying her husband Alan. They have four children, Harrison, Allie, Caroline, and Olivia. Additionally, they have a very important bulldog named Oakley that “works” at the store most days. In her free time Lynn loves long walks, traveling, and spending time out west in Beaver Creek, Colorado, with her family.

kirby bates

Kirby is an essential part of a’mano as the manager. Kirby assists with buying, overseeing the daily operations of the store, and serving as a liaison between a’mano and its vendors. Additionally, she is responsible for all social media and marketing efforts; as well as, serving the customers of a’mano with anything they need. Kirby began her work at a’mano upon graduating from the University of Alabama majoring in public relations and business. In her free time she enjoys spending time outside, exercising, and eating Mexican food with friends.
